Cream satin silk embroidered with colored silk in satin stitch. A pair of peacocks standing beneath a large tree next to blooming peonies. Sitting in the branches and flying around other pairs of birds, including those representing courtly ranks and butterflies.
Formerly from a North German private collection. On the back of the frame a historical inscription: "Japanese embroidery, brought by M. A. Wichmann from his trip around the world in 1878"
